Leif Podhajsky, psychedelic visions

Music for the eyes

Some things just cannot be explained. For example the cloudy sky that moves as if in a psychedelic flurry. Leif Podhajsky says it’s all thanks to forces of nature. They tune in to his emotions and become magical graphics.

Sometimes all you need is a good record. In fact music is a kind of emotional springboard from which Leif can dive into his inner self, wading among new creative possibilities and pursuing the perfect rhythmic wave of inspiration.

Other times a simple idea is sufficient, which the Aussie designer (currently based in Berlin) then puts into contact with his vast archive of images, photos, textures and magazine cutouts.

This is how the chain reaction connecting images and symmetries is triggered, influenced by the geometeries present in nature and by the free flow of bits of information in data transmission.

Spurts, outpours, oscillations, vortices of images that short circuit, giving origin to ethereal posters and album covers, created on commission for musical bands such as Vines, Lykke Li and Tame Impala.

You can see many of them on his blog Visual Melt, where Leif posts work by artists that inspire him such as Remedios Varo, Caspar David Friedrich, Bas Jan Ader, Yves Klein, Michael Cina and others.
